Background
User interfaces that enable multitasking expose users to information unrelated to their work, thereby undermining concentration. Existing research has not sufficiently explored approaches that reconstruct the workspace itself to align with users’ work objectives. To address this gap, we developed Focus Launcher, a system that dynamically reconfigures the browser homepage by selecting applications based on a user’s work objective and presenting them by workflow step. Through a three-stage user study, we explored the conditions under which the system functions effectively and its impact on users’ work.
